ReplyDeleteThe first thing I glance on the page is the picture then the tabs and lastly, the logo and “welcome” of the website. The designer directs your attention thru the use of color by having bright, cheery colors that keeps your attention switching until you have seen it all.
The dominant colors of this website are colors that are bright and pastel. The background is bright while the tabs are pastel. The overall tone of the website is cheery because the colors seem to be the colors used during Easter.
The target audience is a customer who needs a website designed. They should care about this service because they need a website designed. It is relevant to them because they need someone to design their website.
2) http://adsoftheworld.com/media/print/kapiti_designer_ice_cream_3?size=_original
The first thing I glance on the page is the watch, then I see the melting half of the watch, then finally the logo and name of the company. The designer directs your attention thru the use of color by making all the colors melt at the bottom so that they are all at the bottom overlapping clearly.
The dominant colors of the piece are black and gold. The overall tone of the piece is that this product would be delicious.
The target audience of this print ad is anyone who likes designer ice cream or would like to try it. They should care about this product because they like it or want to try it. It is relevant to them because if they like or want it they would most likely want to buy some.
Ad: Dryup Paint

1.) What I first see is the vivid red of the watermelon. My eye next sees the black specks of watermelon seeds. The designer uses a bright red to capture attention and with only a few details, creates a watermelon shape. The point of the ad is that the watermelon matches the background because this paint company can match colors from nature.
2.) The dominant colors are red and black. The overall piece is bold and exciting.
3.) The target audience is people who are decorating, or redecorating, their homes. They should care, because if they want exact colors from nature, they should buy that paint.
Website: Emotions by Mike (Freelance Portfolio)
Link: http://www.emotionslive.co.uk/index.html
1.) The first thing I see are the bold checkered socks. Then I see the bright spring green that makes up most of the screen. The designer uses bold colors for big things and has soft colors for the details.
2.) The dominant color is the vivid green. The overall piece is fun and slightly animated.
3.) The target audience is those who need help creating a cool website or those who just need a graphic designer. This designer can create really cool designs and layouts for their client.

ReplyDelete1. In Act one, two groups of characters are introduced. One is the three kids playing on a hay bale fortress and the other is a group of four teenagers doing drugs. One of them is a kid's older brother, and they go looking for the kids because the younger brother sole cigarettes from the older brother. In Act two, the teens catch the kids on the bales and get the cigarettes back, but soon find the youngest kid hiding in the hay bales. They taunt him with matches that threaten to light the bales on fire. They then leave the boy trapped in the bales. In act three, the bales catch fire. The teens do not know this, but feel guilty and go back to get the kid. They see the burnt bales and reason that they killed the kid. In the last sequence, the kid is seen alive.
2. Be a nice person who doesn't threaten to set kids on fire.
3. The main character is the kid who gets trapped in the hay bale. If it wasn't for him, the teens wouldn't have had a problem.
4. I liked the scene when the teens were tormenting the kid. I thought it was well acted. Other than that, the acting wasn't very good.
5. I would've had the actors not play up the sadness so much, they laid it on too thick.
http://delavandrugtaskforce.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/above-the-influence.jpg?w=339&h=291
ReplyDelete1. I fist se the arrow. then it goes to the "above the influence" words on the page. Well, the only color is black but the designer wants to make a statement more than direct our eye because there really isnt that much to look at.
2. the tone of the piece us serious, it wants to state something meaningful to change people, the overall color is black.
3. the target audience is teenagers and teenagers doing drugs, the target audience doesn't care but it might change there mind a little, it also helps convince naive people to choose the right side (meaning not doing drugs). It is relevant to all teenagers because since the part of our brain that helps us make decisions still isn't full developed we tend to make really bad decisions and they are trying to help us with that.
http://www.google.com/
1. I fist se the name "Google", then i see the bar that lets you type things in. They direct my eye by making the page really blank and only having one word, making it easy to know were to type.
2. The dominant colors are green, yellow, blue, and red, the tone is informative.
3. Everyone in the world is the target audience. They care because it allows them to look up anything they want on the internet. It is relevant to them because now a days it is easier to type something into Google rather than going to the library or looking it up in an encyclopedia.

ReplyDeleteThe first thing that I see is the sad big blue blob in the center, in particular his eyes. Then my eyes go directly to the text next to him, even though the text is smaller and gray. This says, "One very very very lonely calorie," and continues (which my eyes search for) to say "Pepsi Max" on the bottom right. Then I notice that the blue blob is committing suicide (I see the blood, then look for the cause, then see the gun). Then I notice the noose around the blob's neck. To be honest, when I first picked this ad, I thought it was cute because I didn't fully look at the image, I just saw the first couple items and thought it was an idea that got me interested enough to choose it. I didn't realize it was so morbid. When you first glance at the page/screen/frame, what do you see first? I think that the entire image is pretty monotone (pretty much brown with a little gray) except for the big blue blob, which is why my eyes traveled directly to it. The overall tone is...strange. At first I thought it was cute, but it's too dark to be sad. It's very disturbing. I think it will appeal to people with dark humor. Most likely teens and up. I don't think it would appeal to families, especially mothers. I think that someone in the target audience would find it amusing and think, "Oh, well then I'll put that little blob out of it's misery!" I can't really say though... It's a risky ad.
http://www.d-nyce.com/
I don't really like the homepage. First my eye goes to the title of the page, and then travels around the negative space, occasionally bumping into small words. I think that this site is meant to appeal to a simplistic client. It's very clean-cut and minimalistic, which is definitely the way that some people prefer to have their work. The dominant colors are white (shade...I guess), gray, blue, and pink. Although, it's hard to say because there's not much color.
Website:
ReplyDeletehttp://okaydave.com/
when you first open the site your eyes are brought to the center of the page, where all of his work is. You look from the center out because there is a flash thing that happens before you see the page. He used bright orange and red and yellow in his flash and then uses black and white. When your mouse touches a piece of work it turns into color.
He used earth tones around the edges to bring out the black and white photos in the center.
The target audience would be businesses that are looking for graphic design work or website or logo for the company and students who want to become graphic designers. This would interest these groups because it shows the work he has done and the process he has gone through to come up with the final product.
http://ftdesigner.net/
My eyes go straight to the bright paper with scrolling pictures on it.
From there it travels to the buttons, to navigate the page.
The designer directs your eyes with bright colors because the background is black.
The dominant colors are cream and lime green, bright blue and orange.
The target audience would be graphic designers or people/businesses looking for graphic design work. This interests them because it shows the work they have done and their experience.
1. Act 1- An unnamed average young man goes through a boring, redundant life. He works in a cubicle and seems lonely and unhappy.
ReplyDeleteAct 2- In an office building across the street, he sees a pretty girl and they start holding up signs to pass messages back and forth. He finally works up the courage to write "do you want to meet" but when he looks back to hold it up, the girl is gone. The next day there is a man in her office, and the average young man becomes very sad.
Act 3-The average young man is sitting in work the next day when an annoying light from a mirror starts being reflected in his eyes. He looks up and it is the girl from the other building. He works up the courage to ask to meet, she responds yes, and they meet in the crosswalk minutes later. He starts to talk, but she simply holds up a sign that says "hi" in a heart.
2. The over-arching theme was that love can start in the most unexpected ways.
3. The main characters are the average guy who is nice, cute and somewhat nerdy, the other character is the girl across in the other window who is funny, perky, and cute. The most influential theme is that he was very sad, downtrodden and lonely and then he met a girl he had so much in common with in an unexpected way.
4. My favorite scene was when the girl was trying to distract the boy while he was making copies and she drew a funny face, and held it up, then the boy grabbed a piece of paper and held it up to his face but it was a spread sheet. Then he looked down and realized he had made copies of the silly face he drew.
5. I would have made the girl kiss the boy in the last scene, not ended it with another sign.

ReplyDelete1. The plot was about a man who worked a validating both at the mall, and he would compliment everyone who came in to get their ticket validated. It became a confidence boost for so many people so they would end up coming back and back just to get a compliment boost. Soon he started getting promoted and promoted and ended up meeting the president and just made the whole world smile. But one day he went to the DMV and the girl taking the license pictures would not smile. So he became depressed tried everything to make her smile but she wouldn't

3. 3. Describe the main characters. Which is the strongest, most influential to the story/theme.
4. 4. Describe your favorite scene.
5. 5. If you were directing the film, what would you do differently?

ReplyDelete1) The first thing I noticed was the flat picture of the Eiffel Tower at the bottom, which has a cooler color, and then my eye went up to the bulldozer flattening the 3d scene, which had colors that seemed a bit more vibrant and stood out more. You can see that the entire thing is a giant picture of the Eiffel Tower.
2) The piece is full of bright blues and greens and has a very realistic and yet "fantasy" kind of feel.
3) The company is an illustration studio, so they are targeting clients like big companies who may want their illustrations for other products.
http://squaredeye.com/
1) The first thing I noticed was the whale illustration and the giant text saying "We have a monstrous appetite for the tiniest details," and then down to the slideshow pictures below. The color scheme is consistent and matches very well throughout the site.
2) The site uses a lot of blues and cream colors, enhancing the "sea" tone it has.
3) This company designs websites for other companies, so it targets businesses.

2. The theme of this video was that a compliment can make someone smile and make a big difference is someones life.
3. The main character worked at the validity both, it didn't say his name but he was the strongest character he gave everyone compliments and changed the world one person at a time.
4.My favorite scene is the one were he is trying to make the lady from the DMV smile and he tries everything and it dons't work.
5. If I were to direct this film and I would make it way shorter, it had a lot of things that didn't add to the story it just made it long and boring.
For the website http://digitalmash.com/
ReplyDeleteWhen I first glance at the page, I see all the colorful bold text first. Then my eyes go to the website name. The path is center, left corner and right corner. I think the designer try to lead me to read his journals, because all the different color of text are titles of his journal.
The dominant colors on the website is gray, and red, green, pink, orange and blue. But those colors are not as dominate as gray and black. The tone of the website is formal, but also casual. Formal is because the massive use of gray, and casual is because the website is basically a blog about the designer’s personal life and work.
The target audience will be graphic designers, clients who are interested in hiring graphic designer. They care about this product is because they find this designer interesting and want to learn for him. Or clients, who like the designer’s style, want to hire him for some ads.
For the ad http://www.geekologie.com/2009/06/25/bk%20ad.jpg
When I first look at this ad, my eyes saw the woman’s face first, because it’s a lot whiter than everything else except the bold text. And then I saw the huge bold text. My eyes traveled from left to center to the bottom, then to right. The designer direct my attention to the expression on the woman’s face, and then to the slogan because these two things are highlighted on the ad.
The dominant color on the ad is brown and white. The overall tone is casual.
The target audience will be everyone who wants to eat. They care about this product because they like to eat fast food, if the burgers change favor, they can go try the new favor.
1. Six Shooter is about a man whose wife has just died that meets a young man on the train home from the hospital. The train is also occupied by a couple whose infant son has also just died. The young man trivializes the couple's suffering, and unwittingly drives her to kill herself by jumping off the train. The train is stopped, and the women's husband is escorting away by the police. The train starts up again, and the young man and the man with the dead wife are left alone. As the train pulls away a cop seems to recognize the young man, and appears alarmed. The young man and the man with the dead wife talk and become friends. Sudden;y the train is stopped and ambushed by the police. The young man draws to guns and fires them into the police, who then shoot and kill him.

5. Nothing. This is one of my favorite films.
1. The first thing I noticed in this print ad were the woman's eyes. They were wide, and they seemed very bright. My eye then traveled to her arm, and from there, I saw that her hand was holding another hand, which really explained the ad and helped to present the product. Through light colors and a general brightness, the designer was able to direct my attention to the hands.
ReplyDelete2. The dominant colors are generally bright, but the background of black seats contrasts sharply with the main focus of the ad so that your eyes notice the woman and the hands. The tone is haunting in the sense that it makes you really think about all the things you touch, thus persuading you to purchase the hand sanitizer being advertised.
3. I think the target audience could really be anyone who touches a variety of objects during the day. Hypochondriacs and individuals wary of germs should also care about this product, because sanitized hands would probably give them peace of mind.

1. Immediately, the three changing pictures catch my eye when I first arrive on this webpage. I then notice the pink bar stretching across the screen, as well as the white background with a simple floral design. Through the use of the pink bar and the white background, Jessica Greenwalt is able to draw your attention to the pictures, each of which lead to a different part of her site, and eventually, her work.
2. The dominant color is pink, and the overall tone is a bright and relatively cheery one. The website is well-organized, and it is evident that Greenwalt enjoys and takes her work seriously.
3. I think the target audience could, once again, be anyone. Without clicking on the pictures, it is obvious that she creates designs for a variety of services and companies. I think anyone who is interested in design should care about this website.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first look at the screen, I see a dog trying to get through the dog door and not being able to fit. Next, my eye goes to the corner where I see a pedigree bag of dog food. He directs my attention from there onto the outer of the picture where I see a cat walking away and a flower at the bum of the dog. This is humerous so it targets audiences of probably a mature audience.

On this advertising website there are many colors ait attracts my attention. Next my eye scrolls down to the bottom of the page to see what the website is actually all about. The color is bright and there is movements so it keeps me looking to see whats happening all around. I think this targets older people so that they can advertise their stuff and see how others advertise their work.

• I see the straws and then I see the bottle and then I see the logo my eyes basically go from the top to the bottom of the page. The colorful straws draw your attention and the lines of them lead your eyes downward.
Describe the dominant colors and the overall tone of the piece.
• The dominant colors are red and white, the coca cola colors, and then there are a bunch of different colored stars.
Describe the target audience. Why should they care about this product or service? How is it relevant to them.
• The target audience is young. Like maybe teens or young adults, maybe kids too. Because it is a fun ad.

• When I first see the page I see the ad that takes up basically the whole page. Then I see the menu bar on the left, and then I see the menu bars on the top and bottom. The ad really takes a lot of attention and then your eyes eventually move on to the side and the top and bottom.
Describe the dominant colors and the overall tone of the piece.
• the dominant colors are black and white, the colors in the ad change every once in a while so it varies.
•
Describe the target audience. Why should they care about this product or service? How is it relevant to them.
• The target audience is people who like to listen to music, basically teens or young adults. Because there are a lot of ads that are directed towards young people.
1. Briefly outline the film’s plot, describing the events in Act One, Act Two and Act Three.
ReplyDeleteSo I watched the first two episodes of Digital Ph33r's (Halo 3 Machinima) "Hard Justice", each of them where about 10 minutes long and I really enjoyed them both. Episode 1 starts out with 2 cops entering some kids apartment and find out that he was downloading music illegally. Then the kid walks into the room and the cops freak out and start chasing him while shooting rockets all around him. Then the two cops, Eddie and Max finally tazer the kid and arrest him. After the title appears, Bernard Brown arrives in Esoteria and starts looking for a job. Bernard is an ex-cop from Regent City and quit his job because the cops there were turning the city into a police state. He gets arrested by Eddie and Max after he the mistake him for being a car thief. After they find out the truth, Max and Eddie’s boss reveals that he has heard of Bernard because a friend of his at Regent City told him about Bernard. The boss offers him a job, but he refuses cause he sees Esoteria also becoming a police state and doesn’t want to contribute to it. Then after an interview at for a dishwashing job goes bad Bernard decides to take the job.
2. What is the over-arching theme of the film?
Police corruption is horrible.
3. Describe the main characters. Which is the strongest, most influential to the story/theme.
Bernard Brown is the principle character; he is very intelligent but often skeptical of people motives. Eddie is very weak minded and easily influenced but believes he can do good thing to help people by being a cop. Max is idiot with a itchy trigger finger but is definitely one of the funniest characters.
4. Describe your favorite scene.
My favorite scene is the intro to the pilot episode because it’s all satire but really funny.
5. If you were directing the film, what would you do differently?
I would change some camera angles when the characters are talking because sometimes it gets sort of confusing on whose talking.
