    2. Im working with a lot of gradient in this project and i haven't tried that in another project since i usually just use it one or two things, and now im trying to do the entire project using gradient.

    4. This work is different than anything that i have ever seen done by others because i don't remember seeing any projects made mostly using gradient.
    5. The things i try to do before i am satisfied with discoveries is check for any small details i might have forgotten to add or fix.
    6. I could work with fewer distractions so my ideas would flow better by listening to music, i tend to get more work done when i cant hear my surroundings and simply focus on my project.

  5. ~Menu Project: We are creating our own menu with all of the main elements found in a menu.
~I am using the gradient to add more detailed and really experimenting with the pathfinder.
~I am not trying to have a blocky, solid colored cover for my menu.
~This is different because even though I’m blending with gradient the cover still has a clean appearance.
~I edit everything and zoom in as much as possible to make everything line up and flow together.
~If I had less time to do the project then I would be able to work more efficient.
~I am centering my whole menu on an original idea that I have never heard of.

1.) In Design New Media II we have to emulate two artists’ styles and combine them into one original piece. I am combining the designs of a graphic artist and a painter to make the image of a bird on Adobe Illustrator.
2.) While doing this project, I tried for the first time to create a very detailed shape for the bird’s head. This is very difficult because it involves a lot of points using the pen tool but it still has to stay neat and clean. In addition, I am using a lot of patterns, which is new to me.
3.) The opposite of the effect that I want to get is that it is disorganized. I am trying very hard to keep it organized and neat.
4.) This piece of work is different from anything I’ve seen before because in one piece it has sharp lines in one area and has rounded edges in a different area, but it still stays connected with the color theme.
5.) Before I am satisfied with my discoveries, I go through all of the Effect tools to see if I can create a cool pattern or color. Often I do combinations.
6.) I could work with fewer distractions by listening to my iPod, which blocks out other sounds. I also get a lot of ideas when I listen to music.
7.) To create surprises in my work, I try to create new, unique shapes. I also like the idea of having hidden images in pieces of art and want to try that sometime soon.

  9. 1. We have to create an animation of a haunted bathroom for a haunted house
    2. I'm using a realistic design to the characters and set as opposed to the comic-book-esque style that is in most of my work
    3. The opposite is cute or hilarious
    4. This work is a very classy kind of gore and horror, not just things blowing up and people getting shot.
    5. I try different shading and different color schemes to see the affect that it has on my work
    6. I could not eat...
    7. I'm trying to create an element of surprise in my animation.
That would make it scary even for a cartoon.

  10. 1. We have the option of making a menu for either a restaurant that exists (revamping it) or creating a new restaurant and designing the graphics for it.
    2. I'm learning how to use Adobe InDesign.
    3. The opposite of my intended graphics would be super childish and cartoony.
    4. It seems like my design has a cool and relaxed feeling to it.
    5. I might try to rearrange the text, or maybe even the text.
    6. I think that losing all of my factors to a computer failure definitely was a huge distraction. Unfortunately, there's no way to remedy what was lost. Building from scratch is distracting because it feels redundant and I feel as if I can't recreate what I had before.
    7. I think that the shift of mood of the menu is really huge. The original was very generic and had no aspects of true graphic interest. The new menu and logo will be very modernized in comparison to the original.

    4. I've seen Connor make things similar, so it isn't different.
    5. Query not understood.

  12. 1. We have to emulate two artists of our choice with the object of our strand.
    2. I'm using Gris Grimly's messy style, which is also very cartoony at the same time. Although my flash looks very pristine, the lines are just everywhere.
    3. The opposite of what I'm making is something that actually has plot and meaning to it.
    4. This work is basically a tame version of Jhohen Vasquez's stories, which involve a lot of violence and nonsense. It is very much what a "boy" animation is; senseless violence.
    5. I messed with sound mostly on this one, and the way Flash works. The way the Oompa Loompa flies was sort of complicated to work out.
    6. I could be anti-social.
    7. I'm trying to make people see how funny Jhohen is, (in a dark way,) and how amazing Gris' art is. All in teenage-like humor.

    2) I am trying to pull off new stunts that I have not done before such as falling off a ledge or being exploded.

    3) The opposite mood that my film film portrays is either sadness or fear.

    4) My piece is different from ones I've done in the past because it mostly involves physical comedy rather than wit or silliness of the character, It's different from other films that I've seen because I've never seen any film that follows my premise.

    5) I try everything I can think of before I am satisfied .

    6) My ideas actually come better with "distractions" because I am able to tell the joke I thought of to see if it is funny.

    7) I wrote an original script i don't think anyone has seen before. Is that enough surprises?

    2. I have never really experimented with Adobe Illustrator
    3. The opposite of what I’m trying to get is a very detailed object
    4. This is different because it is a replica of a real-life object, and then it is simplified to its basic unit

    6. I could work more independently and elaborate on my ideas personally

  17. 1. I am re-designing a menu for a restaurant.
    2. I am using InDesign for the first time.

  18. 1. We are designing a menu for a restaurant of our own creation, or one that already exists.
    2. I have never used a computer program, such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign, to create my art.
    3. Since I would like to achieve a more polished and realistic look in my art, the opposite would probably be more cartoon-like. Since I'm still getting the hang of using a computer program however, my menu cover isn't exactly how I'd like it to be, but I hope to improve as the year progresses.
    4. Most of the menu covers I've seen aren't as cartoon-like as mine, and unlike other menus, my menu cover has a lot going on in the picture.
    5. I experiment with different types of lines, as well as the texture and the quality of those lines. I also like to experiment with different gradients.
    6. I like to listen to different music on Youtube, but that means when the songs end I have to click back to the tab and change a song. I usually have to spend some time thinking about which song I want to listen to, making my work process less efficient. I think if I brought my iPod, and perhaps created a playlist that would help me focus, I could work better.
    7. My menu cover is pretty straightforward, but I think the different gradients, the Japanese characters, and the splash of rainbow gradient in my logo add a bit of surprise.

    5. I like to ask my friends and get advice and collaborate with other people.

    2. I am working in InDesign, which I have never worked with or used before. It is quite the experience.

    3. I am trying not to put off a tacky or rushed piece. A real restaurant menu usually have spent a solid amount of time designing the menu and putting certain items in certain places. There is a method to all the madness.

    4. I have not really seen a modern day look to a crepe cafe. Yes, I have seen modern looking cafes, but not crepe cafes.

    5. I try other solutions with my discovery and talk about it with my piers to see if they have any suggestions for my discoveries. I also try to sleep on it.

  31. 1. Name and briefly describe the project you are talking about.
We are making menus for our made up restaurants, including logos, design, fonts, and using inDesign.

    2. What am I doing in this project that I never tried before in another project?
I'm using inDesign, and also using the ruler on top of the screen to get perfect proportions.

    3. What is the opposite of the effect that I am trying to get?
I want to make my menu fun and childlike, because it's going to be like a fast-food pasta place. The opposite would be a really fancy, italian restaurant-like menu, with very little design, using all black fonts.

    4. How is this work different than anything I have ever seen done by others?
It is my own, personal idea of a restaurant, and my pasta graphics have their own special touch.

    5. What things do I try before I am satisfied with my discoveries?
Changing up the colors, moving different pictures/text around, etc.,

    6. How could I work with fewer distractions so my ideas would flow better?
Take some graphics off, and just leave the text with the red border.

    7. What am I doing to include surprises in my work?
leaving the best for last.... choosing my text :)

  34. I'm working on the haunted Halloween house. My job is to make the hallways that flow all the animations/videos together in a single film piece.
I'm adding a lot more detail to my hallways and doing a lot less copy/pasting throughout the whole thing.
The opposite of the effect that I'm trying to GIVE would be for them to... do the opposite of laughing/being mildly scared.
I have never seen this kind of 'fusing' of projects in my history at CoSA, and I enjoy working on it.
I try to make it smoothly animated/textured before I am satisfied by my work.
If I wasn't busy doing important blogging, I'd be re-doing my scene that took me a whole period to do only for Maya to crash. But I appreciate the thought.
I am not telling my surprises in my work, because that would ruin the surprise.

  41. 1. “World of Color Emulation.” Our second emulation that needs to be made either Animation or film.
    2. What I did was a 2D animation to do a similar concept to someone who I admire. Like the creators of World of Color, Steve Davison and John Lasseter.
    3. What I’m trying to do is to make it good as an 80% chance. I’m doing my best to make it look good.
    4. What’s different about is using a concept from what other people did to their work. Not just copying the concept but making your own version of their concept.
    5. I always export my work over and over again to fix issues, change the odd into the new and double or triple check before it’s ready for its final inspection.
    6. I CAN be a little distracted, but I always finish my animations in time and quickly.
    7. I want to include for this project is to have a lot of feedback, and people can be impressed about my work. Ms. Hall is always surprised after showing my animations to her.
