I think this even relates to me as an artist because the work displayed will be of emerging artist, who are like me, working to express themselves and create. I think it would be good seeing the exhibition to get an idea of what others are making, and how my work compares to theirs.

This year, MCASD is collaborating with the newly opened San Diego State University Downtown Gallery to present a new lineup of engaging and innovative short films from around the world. During this popular, one-night-only event, portions of MCASD and SDSU’s Downtown Gallery—located on Kettner and Broadway—will be transformed into the ultimate micro-cinema where viewers are encouraged to “physically channel surf” from room to room as a selection of shorts screen on loop throughout the night.

1. Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Fest. with Disturbed & Avenged Sevenfold
ReplyDelete2. Cricket Amphitheater, Chula Vista
3. September 18th, 2010
4. This is a one day concert, that has one stage and a total of eight multiple rock and heavy metal artists playing for quite a few hours, one after the other. The headliners are Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed. It begins at 3:00 p.m. and has no set ending time. The entire tour's duration is from August 17th to October 4th.
5. The cost per ticket ranges from $34.00 to $171.00, depending on your seating arrangement.
6. When I was 13, the world of hard rock and heavy metal was opened to me. My friend played Scars by Three Days Grace for me and I borrowed his iPod and listened to it over and over again for and entire week. I then proceeded to listen to bands like Three Days Grace: Disturbed, My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Cradle of Filth. These artists spoke to me because their music all had one very touching theme: pain. I myself had been writing lyrics and poems since I was in the 3rd grade, so I had developed as a writer. I could really relate to the songs and could appreciate the lyrics, even if I had to look them up because of "screamo" parts. If I didn't have so much stuff to do, I would definitely be going to this concert.
1. The Beach Boys
ReplyDelete2. Humphreys by the Bay
3. September 10, 2010 (TODAY) 7:30 p.m.
4. The Beach Boys will be performing some of their most popular songs like "Help my Rhonda" and " California Girls".
5. $87.10 (US $75 ticket US $12 Service Charge
6. This event relates to me as an artist because The Beach Boys are one of the original California musicians that came out with music mostly about life in California. As an artist, it is nice to see musicians from the 60's still playing in concert to this day because it shows that their music made a huge influence on people, even if the songs were about surfing and having fun in the sun. The upbeat and casualty of the songs represent the California culture which a lot of people can relate too, especially here in San Diego.

1. Brent Stirton

3. Picture number 19
a. A mountain with people walking across the top with the sun coming through the clouds.
b. The picture looks majestic and pretty, but dangerous. One of its weaknesses of this picture is that the mountain looks like it’s being cut down the middle with blue. One of its strengths is the lighting on the mist and clouds, and the angle at which it was shot.
4. Picture number 21
a. A tree filled with boys. As you look up the tree you notice that the higher up, the younger the boy. Also there is a boy jumping off into the air.
b. A strength of this picture is the lighting and it tells a story and pulls the viewer in. It makes you wonder what the boy is jumping into because you can only see sky, no ground. A weakness of this picture is how two of the boys are positioned. Because this picture is a silhouette, two of the boys look like they have tree branches coming out of their heads.
5. Picture number 29
a. A forest with clouds drawing in.
b. A strength of this photo is the calm mood you get from the lighting, the clouds, and deep forest. A weakness of this picture is that where the forest meets the clouds is right in the middle of the photo. If he had placed it on a rule of thirds then it would have looked more interesting.

3. "Steamboat Willie"
a. First Mickey Mouse black and white 2D animation in 1928. Released in New York Broadway Theater.
b. Strengths: The black and white animation
Weakness: Pat Powers tried to have Walt's work for Universal Studios.
4. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
a. Walt's first Disney animated film and won the Academy Award in the Carthay Circle Theater in 1937. Shirley Temple gave Walt the Academy Award of Snow White.
b. Strengths: Music, voice acting, and the plot. The scenes of the Seven dwarfs.
Weakness: Walt had hard times drawing and animating the humans in his first Disney film.
5. The Three Little Pigs
a. One of the small animations in the Silly Symphony Series. The colors from the Silly Symphony animations and other animated films that Walt made were developed by TECHNICOLOR. Thew song "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf," was released as a soundtrack from the Three Little Pigs animated short.
b. Strengths: The color, characters, and music
Weakness: Walt's crew were trying to come up with a song name of the Three Little Pigs' theme. Included controversy that the Big Bad Wolf looked like Jewish and Jews thought the short of racist.
